How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on Your User Account

We've enhanced the security of your user account by enabling two-factor authentication when you log in to the Spinstak eCommerce admin homepage. Follow the steps below to learn how.

What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. When you log in, you'll enter your password along with the answer to a security question or a verification code that is sent to your device.

 

1. First logout then login to your Admin Panel.

2. You will be presented with 3 options:

  • Option 1. Provide an answer to one of our existing security questions.
  • Option 2. Create a custom security question and answer of your own.
  • Option 3. Verify your identity via a cell phone text message. (standard message and data rates will apply)

NOTE: You only need to select ONE of the 3 options.

 

THE NEXT TIME YOU LOGIN AND EACH TIME THEREAFTER, YOU WILL BE ASKED FOR THE 2 FACTOR AUTHENTICATION METHOD THAT YOU HAVE CHOSEN.

Option 1. Provide an answer to one of our existing security questions.

 

3. To select Option 1, click on the radio button next to Option 1.

 

 

4. Click the Select A Question dropdown menu.

5. Click on the security question you wish to answer.

6. In the Enter Your Answer Here field, provide the answer to your selected security question.

 

 

7. Click the Continue button.

 

Option 2. Create a custom security question and answer of your own.

 

3. To select Option 2, click on the radio button next to Option 2.

 

 

4. In the Enter Your Question Here field, provide your own custom security question you wish to answer.

5. In the Enter Your Answer Here field, provide the answer to your custom security question.

 

 

7. Click the Continue button.

 

Option 3. Verify your identity via a cell phone text message.

 

3. To select Option 3, click on the radio button next to Option 3.

 

 

4. Click the Send PIN Now To (Your Cell Phone Number) button.

 

NOTE: You must have your cell phone number entered in the Cell field of your User account to use this option. Standard message and data rates apply.

 

5. Check the cell phone associated with your user account for a text message containing Your Spinstak PIN.

6. Enter the PIN number sent to your cell phone into the Enter PIN Here field.

 

 

NOTE: If you do not receive a text message with Your Spinstak PIN, click the Send PIN AGAIN To (Your Cell Phone Number) button.

 

7. Click the Continue button.

 

FAQs

What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. When you log in, you'll enter your password along with the answer to a security question or a verification code that is sent to your device.

 

Will I be required to enter my security answer or verification code every time I access Spinstak eCommerce?

If you're logged out of Spinstak eCommerce, you'll be required to enter your security answer or verification code each time you log back in.

 

What if I don't want to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) right now?

If you wish to skip setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) right now, click the link that says "CLICK HERE to skip this for the moment and we will remind you later." In two weeks, you'll be prompted again to set up two-factor authentication (2FA).

 

Will this affect my customers and their login?

No. Your customers will be able to log in to their accounts like normal. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is only set up for Spinstak eCommerce user accounts.

 

I'm having issues logging in using two-factor authentication (2FA). What should I do?

If you have any issues setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) or have forgotten the answer to your security question, please submit a support ticket or contact support@spinstak.com for assistance.

 

How do I add my cell phone number to my user account?

When logged in to the Spinstak eCommerce admin homepage, navigate to Users>Users, locate your user profile, click the EDIT button under the Admin column, and enter your cell phone number into the Cell field.
